This weight was made in 1987 and its date cane is very obvious!

In my opinion, the placement of the date cane spoils an otherwise superb weight. If it had been set low in the side, the tan and brown garland would have held a perfect symmetry of colour.

The finely set filigree muslin appears as an almost plain grey ground which acts as an excellent contrast to the cane colours. Even the pale green second inner row sits well in the design.
