This weight is typical of the quality and intensity of one of New Zealand's main paperweight artists.

Peter Raos manages to capture the essence of a brightly lit coral with its myriad of life-forms. The reef is in mottled black and grey and its creatures and plants are in a variety of oranges, yellows, blues, greens and reds.

But the brightest of all is the speckled blue, orange and white fish that swims close to the coral, hoping to camouflage itself against the background.
